I am a Consultant Gynaecologist and subspecialist in Minimal Access Surgery and Robotic Gynaecological Surgeon. With my subspecialist expertise in advanced gynaecological surgery, I am also an Endometriosis Specialist.
Having completed my basic medical degree at Southampton and done the junior doctor years at Wessex, I went into training in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the North of Scotland, then later at the North East of England. I have always had a keen interest in keyhole surgery and medical education.
In my senior years as a trainee, there was a process of competitive selection of gynaecologists across the UK conducted at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) to train subspecialists in gynaecological endoscopy. I became one of only five gynaecologists in the country appointed into this training programme with an intensive focus in gynaecological endoscopy and endometriosis. I trained in Middlesbrough (James Cook University Hospital) and Newcastle (Royal Victoria Infirmary). These were centres that, for decades, have been attracting referrals of complex gynaecological cases from across the North East of England and beyond. In 2018, I was appointed consultant at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust with a specific aim to improve the laparoscopy service and the care for women with complex endometriosis and pelvic pain.

I have been an active member of the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) for many years. This is a specialist society of gynaecological surgeons and has been influential in the development of RCOG Guidelines and National Recommendations. Starting as one of the pioneering representative of the BSGE Trainees subcommittee, I continue to play an active role in the Training Subcommittee portfolio today by developing and delivering national courses for trainees and consultants, as well as co-authoring guidelines and the advanced training curriculum.
Clinically, I see referrals from consultants and GPs to manage both the common problems as well as the more complex cases that require subspecialist input. Many of my patients require a bit more premeditation, both surgically and medically. Sometimes when complex surgery is required, it takes more planning and multidisciplinary support. In addition to the common gynaecological operations, I offer more advanced laparoscopic procedures, like Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy and Laparoscopic Myomectomy and frequently have other gynaecologists attending and assisting to develop and fine-tune their surgical skills.
I am one of the first few endometriosis surgeons in the UK to adopt the use of the surgical robot. I can offer robotic hysterectomy, robotic myomectomy, and robotic endometriosis surgery to both NHS and private patients.
I live in Hertfordshire with my wife and a young son. When I get time not working, I enjoy international cuisine, especially Malaysian, but only the eating bit.
